Want to get rid of Conexant SmartAudio Control Panel applet

I've got a vestigial SmartAudio Control Panel applet that I haven't found a way to get rid of. I don't see any *.cpl that would fit the bill in windows\system32. The machine has a Realtech card so the conexant are unneeded.

I ran the uninstaller for the whole Conexant thing twice. Both times it said it succeeded and both times it remained in appwiz after a reboot. I then ran a "force uninstall" using Geek uninstaller, which I'm not convinced did much more than remove the appwiz entry.

So now I'm stuck with this applet. I found a conexant service I disabled, but that did nothing.

Any ideas?

Try revo uninstaller. It will remove leftover files from the standard Windows uninstallation. http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
Remember to unchecked boxes for additional software.

Revo didn't even list conexant, which is why I went to Geek.

OK then this problem is out of my limits of my knowledge. I will leave this thread for a better member to come.

Give this a try.... Download/run Autoruns. Wait till in bottom left corner it says ready.

Click File->Find, search for SAIICpl.exe. If you find the entry, simply uncheck it. (This prevents it from running on startup)

Thanks, Geek. I did try that but couldn't find the entry. It really had me stumped. I need to keep notes on which machine I post these questions about, because so many have passed through here since I posted that I'm no longer sure! I guess this is a begone issue at this point. You're most welcome matts6887. It's very helpful in finding entries for things that get started on your machine. (I've also used it to find and stop malware startups). Note a couple handy features. Click Options->Filter Options
> Verify Code Signatures - to identify entries which are digitally signed
> Hide Microsoft Entries - You usually don't want all the MS startups displayed when searching startups (unless, of course, you're looking for unnecessary MS startups!)
