Hi all,

I'm currently looking to purchase a new PSU for my machine. I used the watt calculator here ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Recommended Power Supply Wattage Calculator and determined that I need at the least a 400 W PSU.

I realize that when it comes to PSU's it is more complicated than, "the more watts the better". Just curious what would work with my system. Here are my specs:

Computer type: Desktop

Manufacturer: Custom build

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

CPU: AMD Phenom (tm) II X4 925 Processor

Motherboard: Asus MSO-M4N68T-MV2(B)

Memory: 4 GB

Graphics Card(s): ATI Radeon HD 5570

Hard Drives: Hitachi HDS721010CLA332

Apologies if I forgot something.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I believe in power supplies with a little more watts and 12+ amps.
If it was my computer I would select something in the 600/650 watt and 40+ amp on the 12v+
I also recommend a full modular power supply. They are a bit more money but they are worth it. These two below should give you quality but are not full modular.

The Seasonic

Welcome to Seasonic USA

or the Corsair.

HX Series HX650 Power Supply ? 650 Watt 80 PLUS® Gold Certified Modular PSU

Thanks for the reply! I was actually just looking at a Seasonic model here:

SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready - Newegg.com

Full modular at 620 W (unsure about the amperage) and 12v+ for under $100.00 USD.
