Wanting to use technical references as Wallpaper. Many images

Hi all,

I am always looking for my "cheat" sheets as I work at my desk. Currently, I print out the material and stash it somewhere along side my monitor or on the bookshelf. I even have a few taped down to my desktop and have to move my keyboard out of the way to see them. I thought that it would be so useful to have the ability to use all that empty space on my computers desktop as a platform to hold these images.

What I'd like to do is find a way for me to take one of my reference images and place it on the desktop, size, crop and place as I need and then lock it down to that position on the desktop. Then grab my next image and place it somewhere else on the desktop, size, crop, and place... then the next... and so on until I have 15 or so images as my wallpaper. All of them places real time around my icons and all immediately visible when I click the "show desktop" shortcut on the task bar. Would be nice to be able to quickly modify too!

Anyone know of a method or program that would help me out?

You could do that with Word though I wonder whether 15 would still be readable.

What you do is make a snip of each sheet and store it as a .png picture. Then you open a Word sheet in landscape mode and subdivide that with rectangular shape inserts. Then you store the snips into these rectangles. When you got all of them, make a .png snip of that word page and use it as a desktop background.

And if you do not have Word, use the free Libre Office Writer. It is a bit more finagle than Word, but it works.

My first attempt at a solution brought me to try and create a collage of my documents and set them as desktop but it was way too challenging to fit everything correctly and it was a pain to modify, especially with dual monitors. I wrote the original post right after trying that method...

I have found that the active desktop in XP had a features that are similar to what I'm trying to do, I'll have to try it in my old XP box...
