Solved Warning Message after Latest Microsoft Office Update (KB2883019)

Hi, I hope someone can help.

I use a Dell Studio 17 laptop running Windows Premium 64 bit. Shortly after booting up this afternoon, I got a strange message saying something like "Microsoft Office Word Starter 2010 - English. This program might be corrupted. If you experience any problems using this software, use the repair option in the Control Panel".
I've tried opening and saving a few documents in Word and so far it seems to be working normally.

Since this hasn't happened before, I assume it's somehow linked to the latest Office update that came through with yesterday's patches. Is it worth running the repair tool anyway?

Running the Office Repair would certainly be a first step.

To do that, open Control Panel select Programs & Features, then scroll down to Microsoft office, Right Click on it & select Change & this should give you a couple of repair options to try.

Hi Ranger4, thanks for the reply.

I ran the Office Repair tool and after a few minutes a message stating Microsoft Office Starter 2010 had been successfully repaired. When I opened Word afterwards it took quite a while to load as something related to Office was in the process of downloading. So far Word seems to be working normally.
Are there any further steps I should take?

Thanks Wixi for getting back. If all seems to be well I would leave things as they are & see how you go. It's possible the delay may have been further updates being installed.
Do you have your computer set for "Install Updates Automatically (Recommended)" for getting the latest Windows updates?.
Personally I use the Auto Update setting & have never had any problems but some people seem to have problems with updates, so they prefer to do them manually.

Windows Updates are set to automatic. As far as I can tell, things are working normally.

Hi Ranger4, I run Dell Desktop Windows 7 64-bit. I have a Windows update KB2883019 32-bit trying to update on my system-this has been going on since last December. Is there anyway I can delete this update? Or, should I do Office repair, as per previous messages and manually update?

Hi turnercj, welcome to windows Seven Forums.

It is always best to start a new thread even if you have a similar problem to an existing thread, but as you are already here you could certainly try the Office Repair to see how that goes. If it doesn't fix the problem have a look at this MS website concerning your Office update. It describes uninstalling it & manually reinstalling it.

Hi Ranger4, Been away so delay in my reply. I ran Malwarebytes and somewhere down the track I had a virus in the system. Malwarebytes got rid this and the update seems to have disappeared! So, I am assuming the problem, all along, was a result of the virus.

Hi tuenercj. It certainly could have been a virus. It's a good idea to run Malwarebytes on a regular basis as well as keeping you AV right up to date as well.
