I don't know what the proper term is for Waterfox, but in Google Chrome you have a feature search suggestions.
If you enter something in the search box (not the address bar) it comes with a list of possible terms.
However in Waterfox it won't suggest anything.
Can't find out why not?
Standard search is Google.
See no result.
However in the much smaller searchbox, (upper right hand corner) it indeed shows suggestions.
So, why not in the main central searchbox?

Waterfox is a browser built on the lines of Mozilla Firefox. I have never used it and don't know anyone who has. I think you have a choice of either waiting here to see if a fellow user should happen to come by or look for a Waterfox Users Forum.

Had a few minutes to spare so installed Waterfox. The Google search works perfectly normally with suggestios drop down box on both the main search box and the top right one.
Suggest you un install Waterfox, download a fresh copy and re install. Create a system restore point before starting (I'm getting fanatical with backups)

Found a lot of Wajam entries in the Configuration of Waterfox.
Couldn't get rid of it because the Wajam toolbar or software was not in the add on or program-list.
So it couldn't be uninstalled properly.
I'm also became very keen on backing-up things frequently
Tried a backup from yesterday and indeed found the Wajamsoftware as Addon.
Removed the unwanted b*st*rd.
Uninstalled Waterfox completely and reinstalled it again
Than search suggestions worked again correct.
I guess Wajam caused the problem.
Thanks for your help.
Problem solved

I never ever give allowance to unwanted add-ons toolbars or anything else.
But as your tip displays, some add stuff tot their down-loader without warning or agreement.
I frequently run anti-malware tools, but they didn't detect this annoying add-on probably because it's used worldwide.
However, nobody should put this potentially dangerous or disrupting software hidden in a kind of trojan horse.
Someone may also change such add-ons for malicious reasons.
Think about for instance a key-logger on your search box.
