Way to automatically bypass W7 USB directly to XP Mode?

I've a question: is there a way to automatically bypass W7 USB directly to XP? I need this to connect my sony ericsson phone in flash mode (connecting the phone to the usb port pressing "C" in the phone's keypad). W7 fails to properly recognize the phone flashing mode.

I am fairly sure that its not possible to do that. windows xp is running in a virtual machine, so it does not have direct access to the hardware of the computer.

thanks for the reply. I suspected so. some way of white-listing usb devices so they can be automatically attached to virtual xp when connected would've been nice to have.

its not that windows 7 is not allowing the usb to connect to the virtual machine, its a function of how virtual machines work. They operate inside a sandbox of sorts, that keeps them completely seperate from the host operating system. A "middleware" layer acts as a translator from the host to the guest and viesa-versa. The middle layer takes what the virtual machine (guest OS) wants to do and translates it to the host os, then the host talks to the hardware.

thank you, I just noticed that two days ago when trying it. now I'm using VirtualBox instead and erased XP Mode. virtualbox is so much better in almost every aspect, except that there's no way for it to see my physical drives. XP mode does that just fine. anyways, virtualbox is the way to go for me.

Yes VirtualBox is great, I just miss my 1680X1050 when using it. The XP virtual mode in 7 does this without problem.

I can see the XP virtual mode being used in enterprises, this enables to have many XP machines legally on each Win7 computer. But for home, I think VirtualBox is the way to go.

after installing "Guest Additions" I just have to go full screen (R-Ctrl+F) and 1680x1050 -which happens to be my monitor's native res too- is automatically accepted. this + runing 32bit colors, something not available in XP Mode, can fool anyone into thinking you're running a 'real' XP system.

you must be logged into XP to install Guest Additions.

Ok that is stupid but I was always trying to increase the screen resolution in desktop properties, I didn't try to change the window size I saw it was maxed at 1152x854 so I didn't bother trying to search more .
