I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately this drive is not included on the compatible drives list for Windows 7. Also as this drive was created prior to Windows 7's release. We recommend to use the supported Operating Systems such as Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP/Vista, which are Operating Systems that have been tested to work with this unit.
Right! Already purchased the new computer and Win7 - so much for backing up your system with WD externals!
Has anyone had success getting the unit recognized by Win 7 so the system backup file from my old HP XP to work? The fuzzy warm feeling of having a backup to rely on feels more like I peed my pants,
