Thanks for the additional effort WiFi! I have just figured out the source of the issue...during the drive selection step I was always re-partitioning and formating from there. This is definately causing some kind of problem, I have successfully installed Win7 by installing to raw drives (I partitioned the drives while setting them up in RAID0 from the motherboard J-Micron menu). Now I am happily up and running with my OS on a 60Gb partition and have my applications on the rest of the RAID0 setup.

It must be something to do with the formating's default stack size perhaps, though the formating was being done in Win7's own install applet.

I have two 300Gb VelociRaptors that I am wanting to set up in RAID 0 with a say 60Gb partition for the OS which is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 do any of you have any input on whether this is optimal for overclocking and gaming which is what I built this rig for.

I would not recommend putting those drives in a RAID 0 configuration. I don't understand why many people want to put the system drive in a RAID 0 configuration. I understand it is to eek out as much performance as possible, but you also risk the chance of having a catastrophic collapse of your system should one of those disks fail.

If you want optimal performance, get an SSD drive setup and don't use RAID 0. Put your games and such on different drives on different channels, not on the same drive in a different partition on the same place as your OS. And what more, you really don't eek out that much more performance disk wise with games short of load times and even those are not that super heavy.

If you are looking at overclocking, then your main concern is how decent the processor is for overclocking, the board doing it, the memory you are putting in and how friendly it is or how much you have to tweak to deal with the change in timing constraints, your cooling and your video card. Disk is not going to be your biggest concern in overclocking unless it is some crazy game that must constantly access the disk, and last I saw, many games don't really hammer the drive that much to really need ultra performance disks.

For Overclocking, you might want to inquire in the Overclocking Forum... Also, put your system specs through the User CP panel, makes it easier for others to look at your system without having to retype it every time someone asks.
