Thanks for the additional effort WiFi! I have just figured out the source of the issue...during the drive selection step I was always re-partitioning and formating from there. This is definately causing some kind of problem, I have successfully installed Win7 by installing to raw drives (I partitioned the drives while setting them up in RAID0 from the motherboard J-Micron menu). Now I am happily up and running with my OS on a 60Gb partition and have my applications on the rest of the RAID0 setup.
It must be something to do with the formating's default stack size perhaps, though the formating was being done in Win7's own install applet.
