rt clik the esp you want to delete and select clone partition to image file. That is in case you want to put it back.

then when you delete it, you have to click the Save All button at top left.

Something to do with the different bios probably.

You could try flashing a new bios and see if that helps. I would be tempted to use a bios that has the nvme module added which gives that extra functionality.

Whether it will make any difference to the current oddity we don't know. Can only find out by trying.

But I put a blank ssd in the old machine and installed Win 10 on it. This then booted up in the new machine, despite the bios difference?

the most recent bios for rev 1.0 and rev 1.1 is F20e according to this
