Solved Weather and Currency gadget

The weather and currency gadget on my laptop is not working but is working fine on my desktop. I have tried the APPDATA files thing, Disableing/reenabling the gadget service as well as AV and firwall, redownloading the gadget, and almost every other trick I saw that worked for other people but surprise f***ing surprise it does not work for me. CLosest I have been able to get was getting the currency gadget to change from 253 days ago to 12 minutes ago but the weather gadget still did not work.

I have also tried the fix it file from Microsoft Security Advisory: Vulnerabilities in Gadgets could allow remote code execution

and

Sting251's fix from Weather gadget not working- Cannot connect to service - Microsoft Community which seemed to work for everyone else but for me it made it now "show Cannot connect to service"

There have been talks that the currency and weather gadgets have been disable by Microsoft due to vulnerabilites but if that was the case they would not work on my desktop either but the desktop is fine so they have NOT been disabled by MS.

Im about 2 steps of throwing my laptop off Niagara Falls. Does anyone know how to get the weather and currency gadgets fixed on the laptop....so they work like they do on the desktop?

I just got this fixed. Solution was from thread http://www.sevenforums.com/gadgets/3556-weather-widget-not-connecting-4.html in post #34 which reads:

"i finally solved this problem.

control panel - internet options - connections tab - LAN settings
then uncheck automatically detect settings

now they work just fine. it turned out IE wasn't connecting either, but i never knew since i use firefox!"

**Except my fix was the exact opposite. My "Automatically detect settings" box was already unchecked so I put a check in it, Applied settings, restarted and now its working. Weather is showing weather and the currency converter is no longer showing xx hours/days ago.
