I searched the forum for an answer to our problem and found this thread from 2011.

Web browser too small
I just brought a laptop with an installed windows 7 home premium 64 bit. When I was browsing the internet using Internet explorer (the newest version i think, come preinstalled in my laptop) and mozilla firefox 4, the size of the web browser is too small. It only use 2/3 of the middle of the screen. So for example, when I open this forum, the box edge from "Welcome" to the other box edge "Search" only occupy 2/3 of my middle of my laptop screen. I'm thinking this is caused by windows 7 because both IE and Firefox has the same problem. Any solution to make the screen full size. I've tried zooming in in Firefox, but I need to do it on every website. E.g. I zoom google.com, then when I open another site the browser will go back to small size, and I will need to zoom it again. Any solution besides zoom in? I've also tried tinkering with the font size of mozilla but doesn't really work b/c some website will have very large font while other regular font."

Unfortunately the poster did not say whether the answers provided gave a positive result.

His query describes the problem that I am having with a PC that I have just changed from running on XP to Windows 7. This is because BT have stopped supporting XP and my wife uses BT and works for them.

She is very annoyed because the browser she uses, Mozilla Firefox, loaded her usual thing, Facebook, in the 16x9 screen and filled it. The game she likes to play, Criminal Case, also filled the space. Now she has Windows 7, she is frustrated by the content being cramped in the centre as if it is in a 4x3 screen.

As a dutiful husband, who talked her in to the 16x9 screen in the first place, I would like to be able to resolve the issue as painlessly as possible!

Unique problem. I hope my suggestion works, open browser (I know this works with IE) and hit the f11 key. You are in full screen mode.It will stay that way. Let me know how it works out.
It should stay in full screen until you hit f11 again.
Because of your situation, I really hope this works.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
In addition to the F11 key,
See this on how to move windows around by dragging the top of the window,
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/snap

After that drag the window to the top left of the screen,
Then diagonally drag the bottom right corner to fill the screen,
Make sure that is the only window open and close it and re-open windows will remember the last used size,

If no joy,
Right click the Internet explorer or Firefox shortcut and then you'll see Internet explorer or Firefox again right click that listing too and click on Properties,
ie-properties.jpg

Then once you get to the properties of the Shortcut,
Make sure your using Normal window, or if dragging as described does not work try Maximized,
