Solved Web Pages Loading Slow But Not Browser Problem

The last couple of weeks, my Chrome has been loading Extremely Slow. I tried Firefox, same thing. This morning I tried Opera, same thing. I have deleted Cookies and all of the normal Clean Ups. No Luck. I have come to the conclusion it has to be my PC. What could possibly be messed up in my PC to cause this? Any help is appreciated.

The answer to above is one and the same. If the browser loads slow the web page on the browser is slow. I am not sure how to answer that other than it takes forever for a page to load.

I have Microsoft Security Esssentials and Windows Firewall

I tried Speedtest and a prompt came up that Ad Blocker Plus was interferring with the test. HUMMM. It sounds like we have a Winner.

I will see how to get that baby off and check back, Thanks == I was wrong on the above. The Speedtest Prompt did not say Ad Blocker Plus but said an ad blocker. I checked Chrome and Opera under Extentions and did not see anything. Any ideas where I might find an ad blocker to disable?

To enable or disable add blocker in Opera click on the Menu at the top LH corner & select Settings then click on Basic from the LH list & Block Ads should be the first item on the list & you can untick the box. This info is on the latest version of Opera.

No, nothing seemed to help. I did not find any ad block that was working. I have had the problem about two or three weeks. I restored a Macrium Backup from before that time and things are good again. Thanks for your help.

For future reference, I have found that it is the scripts running in the background, more than anything else, which slow you down. For this, I use Firefox with the NoScript add-in. I have set it to block all scripts except those which I allow. It has taken me a while to fine tune it, that is, to allow the harmless and the necessary scripts while blocking all others. But if you have the patience to go through that process, you will find that your browsing is a whole lot faster. You will also be shocked at all of the scripts which run on the various websites. For example, you will see that Google has its claws in just about all websites.

That is interesting. Actually I spoke too soon in saying things were good. It has started running slow again. I have the No-Script Addon installed and we will see how things go. I appreciate the tip.

I tried the No-Scripts Add-On and it did speed things up but unfortunately it messed up my Fantasy Baseball Site. There is an option to click on the player name and info pops up about him. That does not work with the Add-On. I guess that is a Script Function. I am still searching. Thanks,

If you have allowed scripts for the Fantasy Baseball Site, yet the site still won't work correctly, then it could be that this site requires you to run the "bad" scripts -- those which do all of the tracking -- in order for the site to run correctly. It's a difficult decision, because you want to block the bad scripts, yet there are some must-run sites which simply won't run if you block the bad scripts. For those sites, I use Opera.

Check your popup blocker - it's just possible that that is the culprit for the Fantasy Baseball Site.

My ISP was down last night for a few hours and when it came back, the speed was back. I guess the problem was on their end the whole time. Thanks for everyone's help.
