Thank you all for the quick replies.

I used to have WOT installed but removed it because I use Avast free and it has the Web Rep so didn't think that I needed both of them. They notify you before you click on the site but I wanted to check out the credibility of the site as in the case below.

I had an incident last night where a full screen popped up notifying me that I had several virus, trojans etc. and to let them clean them. The save box came on and I couldn't click out of it except to use the back button. The name of the site seemed not at all credible , but I managed to jot down the address of the site before exiting. Don't know if I'm allowed to put the site name on here, just in case it isn't. Was reading up on some search info in Google when this happened.

Sorry, but am not familiar with the Smart Screen Filter or add-on method either.
Still trying to learn this Windows 7.

Thanks for your help

You can find in the Internet Explorer security "Tool Tab" the SmartScreen Filter to "Enable or "Disable"...there's also "Check this WebSite", a MS pop-up window will come up and tells you if it's safe or not.

That's a simple way to check quickly a site, only!

It's no add-on!! Native to Internet Explorer.
