Just curious if this was an appropriate score in the WEI for a laptop with this much power ...

The 7's are fine. The only way to get higher than 5.9 on the hard disk portion is to install an SSD. So, yes, your scores are fine!

Is there room in this rig for that , and keep the 1TB drive for data/backups ? Or just replace the whole thing with the SSD ?

You can get an SSD yes, but a 7200rpm is pretty much the best you'll get at a low price. If you've got a bit of cash floating around, and want faster disk speeds, then sure, upgrade. But if you take away your disk speed (from test), you're left with a score of 7.0, which is great!!

Ill just leave it alone , still makes me wonder why a top of the line gaming laptop would score so low. Plus the 1st time ive heard of a "7" being a great score ! But id rather not mess with it and continue on ,

thanks

Chris

Well, the score is calculated by the lowest score, which is 5.9, which is also the highest score achievable by a HDD :P
