Ok, so i'm wanting to put the radeon HD 5770 on my mother board. The card is 8.5 inches and will over lap the on-board heat sink. So i went to Gigabyte's web site and sent in a question asking if it would fit. Also i provided them with a link to the card. And here was their answer.

"Dear customer,
Yes, you can put in Radeon 5770 graphic card to work with mother board, all you need is remove current driver, boot to bios, change first init display to PEG under advance bios features, then insert 5770 to PCIE slot, connect monitor, boot to windows load the correct graphic card driver for Win746bit "

Does this seem like a computer generated answer to you? It does to me.

I'm just afraid of buying the card and it not being able to clamp all the way down cause of the heat sink. Dont want to be stuck with a card i cant use.

This was asked once before I believe, if it I were concerned about clearance I would take out the current card and place a straight non metallic level, ruler or even a pencil on the PCI-e slot and see if it clears the heatsink. Fabe

I did, it will cover about half of the onboard heat sink covering the integrated radeon HD card. But it sits only maybe 2mm higher than the cmos battery.

I thought you had it straight from the previous post you made about this. As I used my board for comparison, my PCIe slot sits slightly higher than the heatsink. But, I was able to see, without a doubt, that the card does not touch the heatsink. The heatsinks on the pic you provided is the same one used on my board--thus, the same height. I have the same card installed--thus, the same clearance. I also stated that it was a few millimeters clearance between the card and the heatsink...
