I bought a new Sony Vaio SR a couple of days ago and just received it today, everything is great except for an extremely obnoxious bar on the desktop, and I have no idea if it's something installed by Sony, or if it's a Windows 7 thing. I would just like it to be gone.

You can't right click it to bring up a menu, and image in the top right corner just shrinks it down and allows you to move it. But you can't drag it into the recycle bin or anything. And to make things better: you can only add stuff to it, you can't drag things out.

Attached is an image of it, if anyone has any idea.

Thanks for the replies - I was finally able to figure out that it was "vaio mode switch", and remove it. The only way to do so was to kill the process from the task manager, and then disable the service from starting up in msconfig.

It doesn't even show up in the typical services menu by running services.msc.
