I have a weird driver issue going on. When i plug my phone in it immediately connects and disconnects. So then my phone doesn't charge. Since it disconnects I can't remove the driver from device manager. I want to make sure all of the usb drivers for it are uninstalled and start from scratch. So..

Where does windows store the drivers it uses for usb devices that are commonly plugged into your system?

Like the first time you install something that is usb based, it takes a while while it locates the driver and then puts it into _______ folder so that the next time you plug it in, it is ready for it lol.

What is __________ folder haha?

That would probably be C:\Windows\System32\drivers.

Your best bet is to install the software for the phone first, then attach the phone. Perhaps the software will ask you to plug in the phone while it is installing.

unfortunately this phone has been working for like 2 months solid and all of the sudden started doing this. My wife's android phone does the same thing.

Hers is a moment, mine is an evo.

I've been a computer tech my entire life and this one has me stumped.

I have went all the way through checking the hardware good because after a fresh format it seemed to start doing this almost immediately also. So i want to remove any of microsoft's crap compatability android drivers and make sure it uses my phone's recommended drivers.

Nevermind, this has got to be a powerdraw issue. There is no way it is driver related now that i have thought about everything. It would just flag the driver as not working or stopped instead of disconnecting. I'm going to have to see if an externally powered hub helps. It is only this one machine i can't charge on... my best machine out of 5 lol.

Have you experienced issues with any other USB devices on that machine?
