Hmmm that's kinda odd. I updated my graphics drivers a few days ago, and I haven't had the problem happen to me yet. I hadn't updated since May, and I had to download and install all of the driver releases between then and now so that it would actually update to the newest version that supposedly fixes the error. I don't know if that could be your problem or not.
I always assumed it was a driver issue, but I don't think it has to do with your motherboard drivers. And since ATI released the drivers with those in the fix, it certainly seems like it's a video driver issue. Though since you have a 4 monitor setup, the driver fixes may not have fixed it for that many monitors. But that's just speculation on my part.
