Weird Random Crash

I was playing CoD4, and all of a sudden it crashed. I couldn't release my mouse, and I could still hear people through Skype, but the voices where in slow motion and in a robot-like voice. I recently overclocked my CPU, and my CPU isn't that good for overclocking (It becomes unstable around 3.6 - 3.8GHz when overclocking; some chips are luckier than others) I overclocked to 3601MHz, and stress tested for 3 hours without any problems. The max temperature for this CPU on this Akasa cooler is 60°C.
This was really freaky, I tried Ctrl+Alt+Delete but it didn't respond. Is this Windows?

Odd. I'd skype had also died I would have said it was the overclocking. I think it may be windows. VLC locks up my 512MB RAM W7 laptop when I use snap to for it, so given that action, yeah, I'd say this is windows. Or could be the game. Given your system specs, I would it have thought it would crash.

If it was the overclock, Windows wouldn't still be running. The whole system would have shut down.

True. Try running CoD on lower visual settings and see if it happens again (occluded if this issue is a first it could be rather hard to get it to do it again :/ )

Well, currently I don't have my 6950 (It was faulty) so I'm running of an integrated 4290. The settings are nearly as low as possible, about medium-low and a resolution of 800x600. I get about 60-100FPS.

Then again, I changed the settings live (I mean I changed the graphics settings in-game) though it shouldn't have stalled another 10-20 minutes later. It might be the game, though it's never happened before.
And yes, it is bad luck for the card. I've been waiting for nearly 2 weeks for a replacement, and with Crysis 2 out and Portal 2 coming soon, I'm becoming inpatient

sounds like it may just be Windows freezing.
hope your new card arrives soon. I kind of know how you feel, as I have a mid-range 512MB nvidia card sitting in it's box, though it's unusable as it has a 300W minimum and my PSU is only 180W. I tried it once, the fan didn't spin on it and the resolution was awful :S I have to get by with a 64MB card in the meantime :/

My mate that helped me overclock, said it could be the integrated graphics, and that graphics cards are better with overclocking somehow.
*EDIT* Wow, I was encoding a video at about 50% load, and I got a BSOD. I've now clocked it to 3.5GHz and I'm stressing it.

Yeah, that's a good point. I guess it could be partly because of the cooling available and the quality card manufacturere generally put into GPUs is better than on onboard chips. All my friends know I hate onboard Intel graphics, as if there's one thing they shouldn't try making, it's graphics cards

OK, I've clocked the CPU @ 3.5GHz and I stressed it for over 7 hours. Is that good enough to declare it's stable?

Yeah, that sounds like it should be stable.
