So yeh i use a windows 7 ULT x86 and the welcome screen just hangs there for a good 20 odd seconds. It didnt do this before. To be honest im not sure what i did for it to happen.

I googled a bit and:

1. Dont a full fill BG
2. Dont have a remote account
3. No NAS or attatched network locations

I have a Vertex 3 SDD so it shouldnt be like this.

When did it start happening? You should not have to remove anything to make it work properly...

Never mind the BIOS. Is it ok if you do a clean re-install?

Maybe its your drivers... Look, its easier if you do a clean install, then don't install any drivers at all and see if you get the problem. If you don't, then we will proceed to installing drivers, I'll help you get 'em. We'll see along the way if you get the issue. If you get the issue again, that could mean two things. Either that, your OS installation disc is messed up, or we are installing wrong drivers, or, your HDD might have some errors. Before you clean re-install, can you run SeaTools and check if your HDD has issues. | Seagate

Are you using a solid color background? If so try a picture and reboot (know bug)

If not try this registry fix:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Then add the following value as a DWORD (32 bit) [if existing just edit it]

DelayedDesktopSwitchTimeout

change value to 5 and reboot

Hope this helps!
