The Welcome screen for my system (see system specs at bottom of post) takes 20-30 seconds of loading time. I don't really understand it, because my system is a pretty good one. I have all drivers, and reported faulty drivers have been fixed (updated those too).

Its just really annoying and adds to the load time (boot takes less than 8 seconds, not bad but I'm always looking to improve). Perhaps there some setting that controls this, or a program that seems to make this take forever? Anyone know of anything I can do to improve this?

This should be an old issue and Microsoft was supposed to have fixed this. My background is slideshow.

if that doesnt work, try doing a clean boot to isolate the problem: How to Clean Boot Windows | eHow.com

I have done this with no success

Any other ideas? I really am not sure what this is. Could be a program I've installed or the BIOS. I have On/Off Charge installed on an intel X58 GA-X58A-UDR3 motherboard. I try to make programs not update automatically, but windows update does, could that be a reason? I uploaded installed programs.

This was solved by a new install. Don't know what was going on to make it do this, but thanks folks
