I searched the forum, and I cannot believe nobody has asked this already.

I'm the ONLY user on this PC, and the welcome screen is an annoyance to me. It's an extra step I don't need, to log onto my own computer.

How do I turn it off or skip it?

If you are the only user on the pc I assume you have to enter uid, and pword, correct?

If not I think there is a tutorial to change/replace the logon screen.

Could you tell me more

Ken

Do you want it to boot straight to your dekstop I assume? If so try this;

Press Start>Run, type in "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes), click OK.

Uncheck the box there concerning entering a password, click OK. Select the account you want to automatically log into, enter the password (or leave blank), click OK.

Hope that helps...

Sure...,
No. I have no password on this computer. If someone gets in my house, they can have full access. I do not store credit or other sensitive info on my computer. The only security I have is a WEP key for my network. Even then, I live a mile down a limerock road with no close neighbors. If someone gets close enough to the house to try to leach off my network, it would be a lot of work for nothing, and I would probably see them.
On my XP machine I go straight to my desktop. Easy and fast.
Thanks
