No problems!

Just want to say "Hello" to Bare Foot Kid, Think Again, & all the rest of you who greeted me on this site. Thank you.

I found Seven Forums while looking for tutorials & I see where you have a wealth of information for me to access (after I learn more about the PC).

Brink has a very cool mascot; I believe you call his little Alien that.

Your site gets a big "thumbs up".

That's it for now.....signing off.

Still no problems!

Thank you so much for the good encouragement! I just had to get a laptop for the news. It's so discouraging trying to get news that has a "total & complete blackout." It's a lot to learn but I'm hanging in there!
No BSOD crashes, nothing like that. Just want to learn.

In the way of an introduction, I am here to determine whether or not I want to migrate to Windows 7 from the world of XP. I am a member of the elderly generation and do not take to change unless I have to. I also do not like to get too far out of my comfort zone.

That being said - will I like Windows 7? No - that is not the right question! Do you like Windows 7 or do you just tolerate it because that is what you have?

Welcome to Seven Forums charlie4u and dustywoodworker.

Windows 7 is a great operating system, I like it for many reasons, it's more secure than XP, handles hardware better, the list goes on and on.
This is a Win7 forum so most here really like it.

There are a few things to learn when switching from XP, the main thing to remember is that it is not XP, a lot of thing you had to do in XP you don't need in Win7.

Just jump in and enjoy it, ask your questions in the Seven forums and someone will help you.

I went from XP to Seven, and yes, there are some changes, but it was still familiar, and I like Seven better than XP. There is certainly plenty of help here for any questions you might have, and I would recommend Seven to anyone. A Guy

Windows 7 or XP

In the way of an introduction, I am here to

determine whether or not I want to migrate to Windows 7 from the world of XP. I am a member of the elderly generation and do not take to change unless I have to. I also do not like to get too far out of my comfort zone.

That being said - will I like Windows 7? No - that is not the right question! Do you like Windows 7 or do you just tolerate it because...

XP has been upgraded to Win 7 because many people were having difficulties with XP.

When XP came out, word of mouth in the Silicone Forest was that it was not a good purchase because had not been 'proven yet'.

In June 2011, I purchased my first computer, knowing zilch about it because when I studied CSIS (Computer Science & Info Services), internet was nonexistent.

Do I like Win 7? I'm also a senior & it's all new to me. It's a new toy that I've begun to get addicted to. Instead of looking at all the beautiful places on video I could get out & go there.

Should you change from XP to Win 7? I bought a notebook for $280 but the whole package deal plus tax ran $500. You would have an additional expense. Also, with a notebook, I find the mouse pad difficult to use and still have to purchase a regular mouse to plug into the USB port.

Software programs keep changing so Microsoft can sell software. Depends on what you use the computer for if you need the latest ones.

If you are comfortable with your computer, there is no need to change.

You shouldn't have any difficulty adjusting to the Win 7, but need to get rid of all the bloatware if you want to use it.

Then there are the upgrades. My Win 7 was preloaded with upgrades in April 2011 & was purchased in June. There were many upgrades for me to download. You might have to spend additional time with a new Win 7, potentially disrupting your routine.

For myself, I do like the Win 7 but need to put a limit on time spent with it. I don't have time for all the jokes & Emails I get. My idea of a computer is a necessary tool to have. Win 7 fits the purpose very well.

Yes! I like Win 7!
