Hi, I was constantly getting Blue screens of death and couldnt even boot up windows after a while of this. I tried booting windows from usb and always got either a BSOD or a black "windows boot manager" screen.

Saying something like

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. insert windows instal disc, restart comp
2. choose language
3. repair

followed by a some randomly chosen error message

file: \winwos\system32\config\system
status: 0xc0000001
info: windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt

I had a non reading dvd drive. So I just purchased a new dvd drive. Popped in my windows disc. It detects the disc and says "press any key to continue" but then after that, instead of loading the windows installer, I just get the same generic error message as above.

How can I possibly fix my pc?

In the BIOS, double-check to see that the DVD is the first device to boot from. It doesn't sound like it is doing that.

it is, cd drive 1st device.......and in hps you can manually select boot priority by pressing esc.....I get the message that says "press any key to boot from cd/dvd" which i assume means the disc is being detected. But I still get the error message.
