I am trying to connect to a WEP network and even with the correct shared key it doesnt work. Not to mention the very poor design that had me take 30 mins to find a way to edit connection settings, and then it didnt even work. So whats the solution for not being the administrator of the network? I have no control whether the admin uses WEP 64bit or wpa2 enterprise. It makes no sense to not be compatible to this type of encryption when its used in a lot of places, and at the same time have a setting for open networks. That makes a lot of sense. how do I get this fixed? Whats the point in owning a computer that cant access the internet?

Windows XP - Now Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
my bad I Forgot about mac addy filters. just had to change my mac address =] Sorry I blew up, but in another post in this forum, a so called '7 guru', commented to the same type of problem that 7 isnt compatible with WEP because its outdated and insecure and that you must change the encryption type. This is not true and I garentee more people run no encryption at all vs people that run WEP. Well anyways, thats not the case, and it is quite easy to set up WEP on 7. Poor help by a windows "7 guru" to say the only option was to change the hardware settings. maybe I should have forked out the extra cash to get XP, funny vista and 7 are cheaper than XP, you really do pay for what you get I suppose.
