I've thought about this before. Some possibilities.

OP only joined and posted because they need help, have no other desire to be here. They get their answer, and are gone. Perhaps don't realize that thanks are the accepted norm. Could be considered rude.

OP posts on multiple forums. Get an answer on another forum, and never come back to see replies here.

Remember, we are the outgoing, gregarious type who post here regularly, a minority. The vast majority don't post, only lurk and read. Imagine how many google and find their answers here without ever joining. On occasion, people join just to say thanks, and never post again. The opposite of the people we are discussing. I have bought a lot of stuff on Ebay over the years and have never gotten "took" on anything. I have heard stories about people not getting what they thought, but I have had some good luck with the items.

During the time the former eBay chair was running for Governor of California, we were getting almost daily reports here from those who'd bought bogus Win7 on eBay.

Since eBay didn't do anything about this for over a year in spite of a deluge of complaints, it gave the impression she was trying to buy the Governorship partly with pirate treasure.
