stuff not going how i want it to like when i took off the sata cable it took the L shaped plastic with it but still has the pins so now i need to find someone who knows how to fix that because i don't p.s. happened yesterday im resorted to useing older pc atm till i fix that :/

Like Gary said depends on what part has snapped off mate I did the top of a plug the other day and while my breakage wasn't worth fixing if it's in the mobo or drive socket then some VERY careful gluing might put it back together.

That two pack resin based stuff is good but make sure you only use the smallest amount you can and trim the excess with a very fin blade - a scalpel blade is ideal before it is set hard - you do have a few minutes where you can do that when it's in a semi gel state and make sure you give it at least 24 hours to cure / set properly before using the socket again.

SATA cables can be stubborn. Sometimes even if you firmly depress the plug release it will still not budge from the slot. So you're faced with deciding how much you want to force it. I've spent enough time messing with this that my hair combusts. I've broken one and it now just sits in the port without catching.

Why not make a release that works? They're already in computer science.

Gluing the tab sounds tricky super glue and epoxy glue may not be anywhere near strong enough. Super glue may be a better bet if the surface is rough.

Some sort of styrene glue like plastic model glue may be the best bet. But frankly, given the large area being used as support and the tiny area of the breakage, it's likely somewhat doomed to fail again no matter what :/

If you do manage to get it glued on, and the connector reattached. I would figure out a way to immobilise the cable really well so that it can;t be moved up or down ever again.

Hum fseal I was thinking the super strength Araldite (epoxy) it takes a little longer but I haven't found any problems with the strength (although it is a tiny area I suppose).

Mind yo having said that is doesn't say a lot for the manufacturer of the sockets eh/

No in fact I've been pretty down on the design of the sata "socket" on Hds since it came out. They are extremely flimsey. You can tell they were designed for laptop like situations. I.e. no cable. For that they are great, but putting a cable on them... very poor design, zero shear strength and virtually nothing to prevent cables from just popping off inside the case with the smallest amount of pressure on them for one reason or another.

At least on the MB side there is the chance to put a cage and even a locking mechanism, but on the drive side there is nothing

Oh thought you might ask that G it's seven shillings and sixpence I couldn't find the pound symbol and pence used to be marked as a small "d" as in sixpence = 6d (and I just know you are going to ask lol!!) (plus the lead guitar player in Queen used these for guitar picks) there are twelve pence to a shilling and twenty shillings to a pound thats 240 pence to the pound or 480 half pennies (1/2d pronounced haypunny) ten two bobs (two shillings or florin) eight half crowns - 2/6d and eighty three-pences - 3d (pronounced thrrrupance) to the pound and nine hundred and sixty farthings 1/4d (pronounced as is) and just before my time were groats which were I think were worth fourpence 4d (long defunct).

The Metric System is so neat and well thought out. Everything is based on a 100. I guess the same guy who invented the Metric System was not around when the monetary system was thought up. What a mess. == Queen is the best band ever.

It's just too bad not everything physical or natural is based on 100.

Time... Paper sizes (Oh ghod the horror of metric paper sizes) etc...

While the metric system is "neat" and has scientific value worth considering, it's application to the world around us is still pretty specious... I'd much rather have an entire system based on powers of 2 rather than 10. That makes dividing things in half or quarters much much more sensible People multiply and divide by powers of 2 in daily life MUCH more often than by 10.

Yeah mate I had the side bust out of a Molex to SATA short lead just yesterday and it sort of just came away like you said very flimsy. The other lead that gets me too is HDMI so easy to dislodge why didn't they make it with a screw in like DVI or VGA?

Freddy Mercury had an unmatched voice. Ironic that another great voice joined up with Queen. My favorite may be Radio Gaga at Live Aid, but then, Queen stole that show.
