Free Malwarebytes and Ccleaner

I need an antivirus we download music games on social sites so basically everywhere that is going to give me junk.
Based on these things what would might be a good fit for me?

Both Avast and Avira, just to name a few of many, offer free versions, just make sure you do the advanced/custom install, so you install only the modules you want and need.

I use MSE - Microsoft Security Essentials and that works pretty well. Have not had any problems yet - knock on wood.

I have some trust issues with Microsoft in that they may try and install other stuff without me knowing about it

That danger is always there. But I think Microsoft is a responsible company and the chances to get screwed up are really minimal.

I have been using AVG for a few years, the computer keeps getting slower and s l o w e r each time it upgrades itself. (<- noticeably slower). On my "new" tosh laptop, I am trying '360 Total Security", seems more unobtrusive than AVG, Avast, etc. Anybody else have experience with it?

Good call implementing GWX Control Panel! For anti-virus I would pick between Avira, Kaspersky, or Bitdefender. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for added protection preferably the Pro (paid) version. Throw in Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit, the free version. Use an adblocker and practice safe surfing.

This practice has known to happen with many companies, not just Bitdefender. You need to make sure you are NOT setup for auto-renewal and keep an eye on your charge bills. Make it simple... do not purchase directly from any anti-virus company and instead purchase from a 3rd party such as Newegg.com. Several times a year you can get from them FREE after rebate Kaspersky anti-virus. Frys.com also does many FREE after rebate Kaspersky offers. I have been doing those for many years and never had a problem. I recently purchased Bitdefender from Newegg and it's perfect. I have several computers (laptops and desktops) and on those I use Kaspersky, Avira, Bitdefender, and Avast.

Here you go... FRYS.comÂ*|Â*KASPERSKY

NOTE: If you sign up for Frys promo codes you can get that for free after the $25 and $20 rebate like I just did...

No problem, you are quite welcome. If I hadn't used my Frys promo code I would have given it to you. Sign up for those promo codes now so you will have them for future use. They will then be emailed regularly. Even if you can't get a code in time for the current offer it's still only $9.99 after rebates which is a small price to pay for a great anti-virus program. I have always received my rebates, NEVER once did I ever get denied and I have been doing them for several years. Just keep copies (scans) of the forms and UPC code you need to submit and you will be fine.

Kaspersky? Buddy, Kaspersky and all of these run on both 64 and 32 bit. They run on all Windows operating systems as well. I have Kaspersky, Avira, Bitdefender, and Avast running on various computers both desktop and laptop from 32 to 64 bit and on XP, Win7, Win8x, and Win10. I don't know what more I can say... any of these will work and will work just fine. Would you like me to do a remote assistance and help you via TeamViewer? Short of that I don't know what else to tell you.
