I know some of the older games geared for xp, there are ways to set up LAN for 2 computers in a household to play eachother. Install the game on both computers and disable the internet connection

Co op and mp are to deferent things but it is free mp fps games fear combat for one. Will cost 10 bucks maybe but I think farcry2 lets you install it on 5 computers and can play against each other. Most any mp game will let you play over lan.
You should maybe google free fps- they will be mp- maybe not co op but you and your friends can play together maybe over lan and or set up your own server and make it private..
Just remember- free is not always free.

Hmmm, Co-Op and free? Nope, not really. Free Multiplayer games though include: Battlefield Play4Free, Crossfire, Runescape, ect.
