What are the problems in restoring and image to a new hdd and/or ssd

I have multiple tib images of my Win 7 Pro 64 bit system. If I add a new hdd/sdd can I simply restore the tib image to the new drive using Acronis' 'system recovery' DVD

Would there be additional issues if I tried to set up a dual boot (2 separate drives) with Win 10 Pro 64 bit via the same method and what would those be ?

One stumbling block could be the bootmgr. Did you copy the bootmgr to C before you imaged it or alternatively did you image the system partition also.

Once you are in the clear with the bootmgr, there should be no problem to add an additional W10 installation. You will end up with a double boot scenario.

Alternatively you could disconnect the W7 disk when you install W10. Then you would switch systems with the BIOS boot order. I personally prefer this solution.

A while back I got a new SSD and just restored the image (both C: drive and System Reserved) from my HDD to the SSD and it was good to go. No problems at all.
