What are these blue crosses (ringed in red on the image) in my system tray? Several will appear, but when I try and hover over them to see what they are they just disappear!

Thanks for any help you can provide :)

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Clean boot,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/179159-troubleshoot-application-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html

Click Start and type in the search box,
msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
Cheers.

On another note your p.c. is in need of updates or something because of the Yellow triangle,

These are Xvid codec icons.
They appear when you play avi files, and just like on my system, don't disappear immediately.
I also get rid of them hovering mouse cursor over.
Anyway nothing to worry about.
