What Are These??

Hi guys was just cleaning fan in my laptop and I came across these 2, and was wondering what they were. Any help. I have uploaded multiple pictures to help identify thanks.

Looks like RAM to me.

They are the RAM that the computer uses. you should be careful with them and dont touch the metal pins. When you put them back in, make sure they are set completely. (they should lock in place).

Oh right thanks alot guys I did think thats what they were but just too double check. Would I be able to upgrade these cause I believe my RAM isnt very big?

I'm pretty sure you have the memory in your specs confused with your hard drive size, I don't think you have 160 gb of memory.

It would depend on how much your mobo supports and what those are.

usually these are 1~2G sticks. A review site I found has dif. info though

You can change these out for two 1G or two 2G sticks. for these you would want the same speed at 667MHz DDR2. (DDR2-667/PC2-5300)

I dont know any sites in England for PC parts, If you want help finding them online, give us some sites you would buy from.

These are two good examples of what to look for.

Either a set of 2 Sticks for 4G of Ram:
Kingston ValueRAM 4 GB ( 2 x 2 GB ) Memory - SO DIMM 200-pin - 667 MHz ( PC2-5300 )

Or individual chips each one at 2G each. I would not mix and match brands. But this has more options:

Crucial 2 GB Memory - SO DIMM 200-pin - 667 MHz ( PC2-5300 )

The specifications that it has to match are
DDR2
PC2-5300 (667mhz)
200pin (this is the size for laptops)

You might also want to check with the Acer support to make sure the ram you have chosen is compatible before purchasing.

Aha must have them mixed up aha, how do i find out how much memory I have.

Thanks for all these options for news RAM aswell guys.
Would it be worth me buying new RAM? I use my laptop a hell of a lot and always want speed and quck access?

It will usually say right on the stick how much it is. You can also go to system properties in Windows and it will tell you.

As per your specs, you have mentioned the RAM details. DDR2 - 1GB in size.

Alternatively, Start - Right click Computer - Properties. There shows the RAM size.
Simple shortcut,
Windows Key + Pause Break.

Ok I found out that I have 2x 512Mb sticks. The type is DDR2 and manufacturer is Samsung.
I would like the best memory my laptop can hold but for as cheap as possible. Might be a little bit of a challenge hey aha
