I finally finished off the Dumas book (and I'm finished with Dumas; he gets sidetracked too much and the story bogs down) and I'm now on a Janet Evanovich kick. After "Man in the Iron Mask" (for a change, the movie was much better), I read "Notorious Nineteen" (I love her Stephanie Plum series) and "Pro and Con" ( a disappointment; it wasn't up to her usual standards, probably because of the clown she co-authored it with). After that, I took a break from Evanovich and read Kathy Reich's "Bones are Forever" (I've read the entire series so far). Except for what has become overly formulaic with Dr. Brennan getting into some kind of potentially fatal jam that she has to be rescued from toward the end of each book (that is getting old; it's beginning to read like a persecution complex), I thoroughly enjoyed the book, as I have the others, and can hardly wait for the next one (due out 08/27/2013). I love both the books and the TV series even though they are as different as night and day. The books are actually somewhat educational without coming across as a dry textbook. The TV series is just loads of fun.

I'm back with Janet Evanovich, just starting "The Husband List", a book she co-authored with Dorien Kelly. I've read other books by the two of them together and they were pretty good so I'm not worried about this one.

I just finished reading Common Sense by Paine. I would never pass up a book like that, it's a great read.

I've started a series from a new (to me) author, Gemma Halliday, called the High Heels Mysteries. Think Stephanie Plum meets the Shopaholic and you will get an idea what the books are about. The plots are less than great but Halliday frequently throws out some one liners that leave me laughing so hard, I can't see for the tears. The current book I'm in is Honeymoon in High Heels.

I've just started Sweetheart in High Heels.

Just finishing up reading London Under by Peter Ackroyd.

I have a fascination with the London Underground system, and this book as the complete history of what's underneath the City, starting with all the Roman remains etc and the history of the Underground lines being built.

Dan Simmons

I have read and re-read the Hyperion Series; Hyperion, Fall of Hyperion, Endymion, Rise of Endymion and enjoyed them both times.
Also liked his "Hard Case" detective series (3 books)
And Olympos, Illium twofer
Finally Darwin's Blade was kind of funny for a smart-ass smart guy, Children of the Night and Carrion Comfort were good horror reads.

I'm now in Halliday's "Fearless in High Heels". The last two books (e-books, actually) were pretty short (fortunately, they were priced accordingly; one free and the other a whopping 99¢).

On paper: Assassin's Creed - 'Forsaken'. This is a ripper of a series, haven't played the games though.

On tablet: Clive Cussler - 'Trojan Oddyssey'.

I'll probably die of a surfeit of Cussler, as I was recently given most of his books in e-book format.

Oh, and I've been re-visiting the great Edgar Wallace, and 'Sapper' (author of the original 'Bulldog Drummond' books).

On my Asus Notebook through the Kindle app I'm reading Catherine Cooksons "The Lady on my Left". On my Smartphone again the Kindle app I'm reading the "The Jarrow Trilogy" by Janet MacLeod Trotter and an actual book, which I read in bed is "Wait for the Dawn" by Jess Foley.
