What camera to choose?

Dear friends,

My brothers and sister are chess players and they go to tournaments very often, that is why we need a good camera in order to capture their moments of glory and not to capture their moments of anti - glory

Anyway, could you please tell me what to look for when purchasing a new camera?
One that only takes pictures, suits us perfectly.

Well I use Nikon 3000 and it works quiet well. No movies just pictures. I also have a little Kodak C195 Easy Share which also does a great job.
People are going to need to know the price range your looking into.
