My neighbor is thinking of running OS X Mountain Lion in VirtualBox. Is this even possible? Thanks.

The only reasonable usage I know for a Mac requires a real, physical Mac; you can not use a virtual machine as a target in shotgun shooting.

That being said you know of course that running Mac OSX on anything else than Apple hardware is against Mac OSX EULA thus considered as piracy. I think you would be better off to get advice on how and for what to use your Hackintosh on Mac forums.
