Solved What codecs are required for mp3directcut?

Hi All,

An excellent programme for editing files without re-encoding.

mp3DirectCut - editor to cut, fade, split and record compressed mpeg audio

Requirements:

■For MP3 play: MP3 ACM codec (present in XP/Vista/7) or mpglib.dll
■For AAC play: libfaad2.dll
■For MP3 recording: encoding ACM or Lame encoder DLL · at least 500MHz

Are these codecs included with Windows 7-64bit Home Premium?

If not, where do I find these codecs.

The Combined Community Codec Pack has most codecs I've ever needed.

I'm a little nervous about adding more codec. Have you had any problems with using this package or installing them?

It's best to never install a whole pack of codecs. You very rarely need them and if you do, ascertain precisely which one you need then install that. It is wise to create a new restore point immediately before installing a new codec or any other installation for that matter. Even better create a system back up with Macrium Reflect or similar software of your choice. It's a wonderful feeling knowing that if things go pear shaped you can restore calm and tranquility within minutes. Mind you if everyone did that there would be many fewer new threads on this Forum

I'll remember to do that if I install a codec package in the future. I usually try to stay away from them because of past experiences.

Love the 'cow' ... it reminds of clotted cream and scones!
