I installed the stock 140mm case fan outside of case then installed the H70+ 1 of its 120mm fans inside case. Used the 2nd 120mm from the H70 to go in the Gpu tunnel.
230mm Front,200mm side,200mm top,120mm Gpu tunnel,120mm&140mm on H70.
That looks very nice build, i would want to utilize Tri-Channel memory so 6GB or 12GB.

LGA 1156 is dual channel, not tri.

As for the build, seems like a lot for an 1156 board.

Sparkle makes "ok" PSU's, but there are many better... and cheaper.

@fumz .. I am still wondering about the sparkle psu myself but it was a good price for 1000w.. It is alot for an 1156 board but check the specs. seems worth it.

As for all others I would like to hear your thoughts too. This will be my first "NEW" build so please all thoughts are welcome!!

Thanks again,

Sandy Bridge socket 1155? Real soon! Actually now.

Agree a lot for that 1156 board. Seems you are paying for Xeon support. Are you doing it for the 2x16 lane PCI-e? If so maybe should go with 1366 & I7 ( I assume you plan on buying a second video card someday)

Why not get 1600MHz CAS7 memory? Why 1333MHz?

1000 watts is almost double what you'll actually need. PC Power Consumption: How Many Watts Do We Need? - X-bit labs

As for the board, given the parts you listed, I honestly can't justify the price. 1156 boards, even really good ones, just aren't that much... and for the life of me, I can't figure out what you'll use?

Sure, it has 2 sata6GB ports, but you're getting a regular old 7200 rpm mechanical drive, so they're of no use to you. Even the "slow" sata ports have more bandwidth than your hard drive can deliver.

There are what, 11 usb ports? Do you really have that many usb devices plugged in at any given time? If you were planning on using one of those USB 3.0 ports for ReadyBoost, you can forget about that too: you're getting 8GB's of RAM.

It's sli/crossfire ready, which costs more, but you're only getting 1 video card.

My advice: get a board around $100.00 (mine was only ~ $120), that has features that you use today, and tomorrow... or whenever you buy that second card, if you buy that second card, spend another $100.00 on a newer board... you'll still come out ahead.

Since you're going for the GTX 570, I assume this is primarily a gaming rig (and we luv gaming rigs :D ), then really, all that matters is cpu, video card and RAM... you're doing great on all counts... more of anything, except for another video card, isn't going to boost gaming performance one bit.

@fumz .. I'm building this rig to handle any and everything plus be very upgradable. I've been back and forth about CPU,MB,PSU quite a bit and have other options on the side line... ( ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard 299.99...,..Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor BX80601950 294.99...,..CORSAIR XMS3 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model HX3X12G1600C9 G 179.99) As for the PSU I know I'm over killing by far with a 1000w but I'm a rather have too much than not enough type a person. GPU's yes i will be adding 2nd later as with the HDD's will also be upgraded at a later time the and also the RAM.
I do use a lot of usb ports (hate pluging and unpluging...lol)

I use my rigs for everything from surfing net to gaming but my g/f is a Pro photographer and will use it for editing pics and video, I will run vboxes for testing, muti booting, ect...

The reason for the list is I've been out of the loop so to say on new builds and parts... and am looking for good input, This list is far from dead set!! I have alot of time before I build but Im trying to get a damn good base to upgrade on while I got the $$

I'd go with a Corsair power supply over a Sparkle if it were me. You can get an 850W Corsair Modular for $159 after a rebate from NewEgg; That would still be overkill for your system.
Newegg.com - CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-850HX 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

I'd also seriously look at the Corsair 600T case. It's $149 and quite a bit more practical from a size standpoint over the HAF-X. Full towers seem to have appeal as you won't run out of room...but they take up tons of room, weigh a ton, often go unused inside, and frequently require extensions to get your power from point A to point B. The 600T has the features of the large cases, without the space consumption.

Socket 1156 will leave you with no upgrade path. Not a factor if you're the type who runs a system for years and then replaces the whole shebang. If you like doing incremental upgrades I would either get a Socket 1366 or wait for the Socket 1155 boards.

Mmm....I would choose something else over the Sparkle PSU, I'm partial to Thermaltake's myself. Have you considered a SSD in preference to classic spinner drives? Apart from that I think its a nice little build.

Lose one hard drive and add an SSD for OS and programs. I concur with comments regarding the mobo.
I have just bought the handbrake an Asus Rampage III Extreme, so tend to favour that one. Also prefer I7, with a 64 bit OS, running 2 x triple sets of ram.
Now that would be a worthwhile investment.:D

Newegg.com - CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-850HX 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
This sounds nice and makes since...thanks pparks1

GeneO New Asus Sandy Bridge lineup: ASUS P8P67 Motherboards Preview - Bjorn3D.com

And take a look at the second Sabertooth board below:

http://www.tweaktown.com/news/17559/..._up/index.html

January 5th for the release of the new processors. If you want upgradable and more future proof, I'd wait a few weeks.
Those look great...bullet proof really :p but I dont know much about the 1155's but like I said I have time before build so might start looking....thanks geneo

profdlp Socket 1156 will leave you with no upgrade path. Not a factor if you're the type who runs a system for years and then replaces the whole shebang. If you like doing incremental upgrades I would either get a Socket 1366 or wait for the Socket 1155 boards.
I am the run for years type person, with that said and going with your point...1156 is out....down to the 1366's that I put up in my last...( ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard 299.99...,..Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor BX80601950 294.99...,..CORSAIR XMS3 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model HX3X12G1600C9 G 179.99) or the new 1155's after I learn up on them....If I'm running for years makes know since to Start years ago!.... thanks profdlp

spinifex Lose one hard drive and add an SSD for OS and programs. I concur with comments regarding the mobo.
I have just bought the handbrake an Asus Rampage III Extreme, so tend to favour that one. Also prefer I7, with a 64 bit OS, running 2 x triple sets of ram.
Now that would be a worthwhile investment.

And Also
Golden Mmm....I would choose something else over the Sparkle PSU, I'm partial to Thermaltake's myself. Have you considered a SSD in preference to classic spinner drives? Apart from that I think its a nice little build.
The spinners are just for now parts for budget reasons....later on yes an SSD for OS's and programs..... Thanks spinifex and golden....

Also thanks to everyone that has given input to this build....keep um coming the more the better.....this is where I am now (until I learn more about 1155's :geek:)

Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Universal CPU Cooler 120mm Magnetic Fluid Dynamic LED Fan and Fan Controller/Heatsink Rev.1 with 1156 Brackets, free TX-3 Thermal Paste Included Inside
