What does Slender drop on a computer?

Hey,

I recently got into the game Slender (version 0.9.7), but I've always been running it in Sandboxie because I don't want it doing unsolicited things to my PC.

So I can get over my fear, what exactly does Slender do to your computer? I looked at the Sandboxie files, and it only dropped a text document, but there was also a RegHive. What are those registry changes?

Thanks.

I've had Slender for a while and I've scanned it with every malware, virus, and adware program I've got. I've seen no reason to think the registry keys in the reghive folders are anything but game related.

Waterfox mostly.
Yeah, I know it's trustworthy. But it does drop registry keys, and I would like to know what they are.

EDIT: I have been playing this game in Sandboxie. Does Sandboxie reduce the game performance?

Um, why run it in a sandbox then? You know the game is legit, that it is adware, malware, and virus free. There is no point to running it inside a sandbox at all if that is the case. It's kind of a waste of time and effort to bother if you know it's not going to infect anything.

All games drop keys into your registry. Registry keys provide configuration settings and serve as a sort of road map so the game knows what resources and programs it needs to run and how to configure them. Registry keys are binary information that programs use to optimize how they run and provide base configuration setting information.

I'm not sure what the hives in Slender do in detail, but they're related to running the game and providing it permissions it needs to access and locate the resources it needs to run.

Not sure exactly what you're asking for here, but reg-keys get installed when you install anything on your computer, not just games.

Why don't you open up the reg files in at ext editor and see what they contain?

As Contrabardus said though, all games put their own keys in to the registry. I'd be surprised if a game didn't when you install it.
