Open source, freeware and indie games' Steam? Nice :D
Well, okay, not exactly Steam, but a downloader nevertheless. About 200 game in its library, now that's a lot!

I just finished ME3. Overall ... I must admit I really enjoyed the game.

I imported my Male Shepard who was a Paragon through ME1 & 2, and had Tali as a LI. Everything worked out pretty good untill the end. Perhaps things are different with different choices, a second playthrough .. I dont know .. but the ending was disappointing for me.
In ways, the ending I got seemed to be a good conclusion, but it also left tons of un-answered questions for me.
After it was over Im sitting there think .. "But what about.." A Fallout 3/NV type ending would have pleased me here after the main end to wrap up minor details.

My only other complaint is things seem a little too streamlined at times.

I know many are currently playing the game, or want to soon, so I will leave my opinion at that for now. To many details may ruin things.

But I can say this:
There are many complaints that the Multiplayer is a must to have all your War Assets and get a good ending. This is NOT true.
I put in around 33hrs I think it was, and had my War Assets at 100% +. Multiplayer makes it easier, as theres less to do in the SP, but you can accomplish the goal in SP if your willing to work at it.

But, from what Ive been seeing it does look as if importing your Shepard is the best route as some desicions may not have the best outcome if you do not.

But, as I mentioned, the game certainly has a few flaws. I really did not like the way the series ended either, but... ME3 as a whole was a great IMHO.
But that last 5 minutes really just wasn't up to par.

Peformance/Tech/Bugs:

Some minor things I noticed.
-Squadmates disappear at times. They might be beside you, yet you wont see them. Quicksave/Quit to main/reload fixes it. (Something do with pathing causes it I think)
-WAR Room: Sometimes the War Assests/Readiness screen shows all 0 and greyed out. You have to bring up the map, then go back for it to update.
-Character Banter sometimes just gets cut off in the middle for no reason.
-In conversations, Shepard or a Character my be invisible. (This was rare for me. I seen it 2 times in 30+ hrs of play) reload fixes it.

These do not happen often, but some minor things I noticed. Overall, the game ran very good with no crashes. Just a couple minor annoyances that pop up on occasion.
With some of the games Ive played lately, I must say this is a big +. A few bugs will happen, but nothing major or gamebreaking here.

Gentleman, it is a rare privilege to hear me say this, but it needs to be said:
I was wrong. Mass Effect 3 is good! Horrible, but good at the same time.

You got to hand it to Bioware - someone finally learned how to effectively kill a franchise after the story has been told -> 3 games, the end, full stop. Thank you Bioware.

Yea, I thought ME3 was pretty good ... then the end just seemed to ruin EVERYTHING!! But it may also (if intended as I hope) be the most brilliant thing ever.

If you've finished it, have a look at the official forums as spoliers wont matter much.
Theres some theories that seem to make sense if you think about it. And in some cases, was hinted at through the last couple games.

Listen closely to what the Rachni Queen has to say (if you saved her) for example.

I had thought about this after I replayed the end sequence, as the last 10 minutes really do not make much sense. Theres a lot of subtle things around if you pay close attention that just do not fit.
My take is that theres really only 1 real explanation .. but that means future DLC is a absolute must.

And, Im hoping thats the case... but it should be a free DLC. Charging for would be a bad move IMO.

((I know this probably seems vague but Im trying to avoid spoilers. Its no secret well over 90% of the ME fans dislike the way it ended, but you can be your own judge there I suppose))

It's all still too fresh for me to process. But seeing as how I didn't have my old save games for ME3, I just started a "new game" which made some decisions for me that I didn't like.

And since I can't even find those save games, I'm just gonna go through them all again, because there's actually 3 endings (as pointed out by my best friend who finished it a little while ago), not just 2. So I'm gonna replay the whole thing to see the third ending.

ME3 had some flaws, some of the choices were just impossible to make, some important factors were left out of conversations as you progress into the game, some animations are laughable, but overall, it is still the ME atmosphere and mood we've seen in the last game.

I'm just disappointed that, seeing as how the last mission (before the Catalyst) was an all-out buttkicking chaos, we don't get to see ALL the companions in action. I didn't need control over all of them, just to see them fighting alongside, instead of just having to choose 2 as usual. That was kind of disappointing.

Now it's just a matter of Bioware not screwing up the DLCs and at least shed some light on the story, and explain just what the hell happened in the final sequence, and how it all fits in xD

You could head to masseffect2saves website and attempt to find a shepard save to import that is much like your previous playthroughs?

Not exactly sure if it will work but worth a shot if not up to replaying 1 and 2.

Actually, I am up to replaying them all.

That's the influence ME3 had on me. I didn't expect it, but... Well, actually, I did expect it, but didn't think much of it. Yes, it's gonna be a pain, but I'll take it slow and catch up to any possible ME3 DLCs and just finish the whole damn thing already xD

Oh, by the way, the soundtrack is awesome! Chris Velasco, Christopher Lennertz and Clint Mansel (among others)? Hells yeah!!!

Not sure why, but have a urge to start from scratch now.

BTW, if you do not have ME2 DLC characters, it may be worth grabbing at some point.

Im not sure if I should be happy or sad about this. But, you do not need to buy the Prothean DLC to get the new Squad Member, as its already on the disc.
This was on the official forums briefly before being removed. Hopefully its Ok to be here :)

Just like Alice DLC was, and DeadSpace 2 etc ... EAs DLC strategy is a bit repulsive TBH. Locking content then charging more to unlock it.

At any count:
Download the ME3 editor- ME3 Coalesced Utility » Exploits of a Wench
Open the Coalesced.bin file located at MAss Effect 3/Biogame/CookedPcConsole/ Coalesced.bin

Do a search (find) for these lines:

MemberValidCID=22, MemberAvailablePlotLabel=IsSelectableProthean,

Replace with this:
MemberValidCID=, MemberAvailablePlotLabel=,

You now have Javik.

EA and Bioware claimed the Day 1 DLC was made after the fact ... but doesnt this mean it was made with the game, and removed or locked to make extra day 1 cash?

Heh, I've started playing through Half-Life 2 + EPs again, but halted once I got my hands on ME3. Now I just finished HL2 and am gonna try out GTA 1 and 2 before moving on to either HL2EP1+2 or replaying all MEs.

lol choices choices

EDIT: And as if my GPU just waited for me to finish HL episodes and ME3, as soon as made the next reboot the drivers went to hell, Aero kept crashing to Basic theme, videos no longer played at all, etc.
Too funny xD

Tried reverting to the previous driver version, no dice. So considering the fact that I'm buying a new laptop in a couple of months (or hopefully sooner) I had a good excuse to get rid of Win7 for now and switch to OS X 10.6.6 permanently... Might just leave this old desktop for OS X tweaking and stuffs, and have Win7 on the new laptop.

Variety is good X)
