What Games Are You Playing?

I kinda wanna play RE5, but im not really convinced on it. I am currently playing Red Alert 3, its pretty good. I played the Demo for the 360, but found it a bit difficult because of the control scheme. However on the keyboard, its a whole different animal.

Been playing Rome: Total War a lot. I downloaded the Roma Surrectum II mod, which is a huge mod and adds so much to the game. Personally I find it one of the best Total War games. Hopefully they make a Rome 2: Total War.

Yea I played the demo and liked it. Will get the full game when it comes down in price a bit in a sale or something.

I just bought a handful of games recently but haven't had time to play.
Currently playing Crysis 2 and Black Ops, but will be playing Magicka, Batman Arkham Asylum, Railworks 2, Metro 2033, Mafia II, and Mirrors Edge when I get some time.

Batman Arkham Asylum is one of the best games i've play in my life i loved it.. Mirror's Edge was an amazing experience for me as well coz it's different from other titles great game loved that one too Mafia II it was really boring and dull coz my expectations was way higher before it came out Black Ops was nice too. Crysis 2, Metro 2033 my system simply cant handle them at the moment neet to upgrade CPU to at least C2Q and GPU at least a 4870.

I just finished Mirror's Edge off about a week ago. Absolutely loved the graphics and view, although I found to game play to be frustrating at times. Good game though in the end.

I played half way through Metro 2033 before wiping my game. It really got the best of me as weapons are a bit too unbalanced (i know this is intentional as you have to balance between weaker and stronger bullets) and the gas mask bug issue where if you advance to the next level and still have the gas mask on but don’t have any filters left you can't remove the mask, and if it gets cracked during game play you're stuck with a cracked mask that severely limits your vision!!!

Ran into this twice and had to go back several levels to get rid of the f'ing thing

Anyways I "might" try to give the game another try as I now know I need to insure I have enough filter to avoid the "gas mask bug", and better manage my ammo, and upgrade to better weapons..... Something you pay dearly for through bad game design if you don't know these things beforehand!

I know there's lot's of love for Metro but I found it to be another Russian made bugfest game - STALKER comes to mind :shock:

I'm replaying that to see what all the physx fuss was about. It certainly adds to it, but it's definitely not the be all and end all. It's a unique game in both visual styling and gameplay. It's about time they came out with a sequel

Well with ATI cards you couldn't run the physx or you'd get bad frames/stuttering in high action/glass breaking scenes. I've experience this myself with my 6950, had to turn off physx in the game settings. Still, the game looked and ran great without physx. I can only imagine how great it looked with physx enabled on those systems that had it.

Good game though, once you got past (use to) the frustrating game play.

Yeah... that's why i played and finished Stalker last year after Patches.

I'm Playing Blaz Blue Calamity Trigger for PC it's like Street Fighter IV and i really liked it. It has fully 3D Environments and Effects but the Characters are 2D rendered and fighting is same like in SFII i mean 2D style Great Game

playing Bioshock 2 and a little bit Kane & Lynch dog days the begining loos good but that is all i can say about it

I've experience this myself with my 6950, had to turn off physx in the game settings. Still, the game looked and ran great without physx. I can only imagine how great it looked with physx enabled on those systems that had it.

You had to disable PhysX? Strangely, myself this game is the 'only' PhysX game where I got PhysX to both work, and run well. I couldn't play without it, made it look amazing.

Although there were two parts in the game where the frame rate fell to like 10fps, very early, then again the same area from the intro again, later, combination of too many light sources plus AI fighting. But this only happened twice overall it ran very good for me, and my first playthrough was actually on my HP rig, which is much weaker than your rig. I dunno... I've a feeling my old driver I'm using with the 4890 for some reason did a really great job with it, because it performs nearly as well as the 6970, well in Metro I mean; I'm using the old, but very stable 10.10.

As far as gameplay, I loved every second of it, from weapons, item management, to AI, I had no trouble at all. But I think I was very well prepared for it after years of playing stalker on Hell difficulty trying to survive with near nothing (A number of the devs who made Metro were actually the original crew for the first Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl) A number of us Stalker fans were going crazy waiting for this game, it wasn't what we expected naturally, from open-ended survival to linear but I found the story and gameplay well worth it. I think the engine is incredible as well, the resolution of textures, the lighting, so over the top it would never work outside of this linear type, but damn good for what it is.

Did/do you have an Nvidia card with PhysX capabilities? (PhysX - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Requirements - NVIDIA DRIVERS 9.10.0513

Now, since ATI cards don't use PhysX, or I don't own a PhysX accelerator, I've found that disabling PhysX in the game's settings got rid of the lag.

You're certainly absolute right, in terms of performance. Frame rates practically double with PhysX disabled.
Nah the PhysX ops were done on the Cpu, but I'd say 90% of the game ran solid. There certainly were a few occassions where it almost stops though; for example throwing a grenade anywhere near anything destructible. This was rare enough for me, otherwise my only issues were leaving the underground, with the extreme lighting if you recall the area.

I'm sure I'm using the newest Nv software because like most people after installing the game it doesn't run, without seperately installing the PhysX software. I had this issue with the demo as well. (even though I already had the newest PhysX software installed...weird bug and common I think)

It is interesting though that there's very little difference in performance between my two systems, I think this may mostly be a result of their extreme preference of Nvidia architecture; which normally I would blast a dev for, I really hate this behavior from developers, but I guess I'm biased because a number of the crew were from GSC.

Don't get me wrong the game ran great on my system with my ATI 6950 but there were areas where my frames dropped dramatically - the mall area in New Eden, the garage area leading to the Shard, and inside the Shard where the servers are - those areas had lots of action, or lots of breaking glass and caused massive slowdowns.

Anyway I found a post somewhere where someone was complaining about bad stuttering and a replay was that ATI card users should turn PhysX off. Once I did that I went back to those areas and the stuttering was gone and the game ran great.

Outside of those areas the game ran great, even with PhysX enabled at the time.

I too had a issues with horrible lagging and stuttering in certain areas (same places as already descibed)
Same as you Sygnus, I found it ran so much better with Phys-X off on my ATI card as well. Once I disabled it, the game ran beautifully for me, even on my HD4890.


Bah, Im still playing through Mass Effect 2 ATM, and this is making me want to start Mirrors Edge again. I did like the game alot, although it did get frustrating in ceratin parts, it wasnt a game killer by any means for me.
Think I may do that once I finish up Mass Effect 2

Wonder how it does on on a single GeForce card with Phys-X on?

I just finished up on Horizon and have now opened up all the other DLCs in my journal. Im probably going to go pick up Tali next but ..

Since I have never played Shadow Broker or Arrival yet, Im curious:
At what point would be best to start SB? This one OK at any point or best left untill a later stage of the game?
And, from what I recall, Arrival is best done AFTER you complete the game?

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it and yeah, Kasumi has some nice skills.

The way the game is setup, I'd play Shadow Broker after the main mission but definitely before Arrival. Arrival definitely needs to be the last DLC (part of ME2) played as it's basically a prelude to Mass Effect 3

And Shadow Broker is a mission with/for Liara T'Soni and once finished you have access to all dossiers on all your team members, including you, and some other characters as well as the Illusive Man, though don't expect too much info there, still.....

Anyway that's how I'd play them.

You could argue action wise Kasumi, Overlord, and Shadow Broker are all "better" than Arrival, but story wise Arrival is still a must have as it's claim to fame is it's a prelude to ME3. Which is why you want to play it last, and why it's the last DLC that will be released for ME2.

BTW are you saying there was the DA Ogre in a vault in Overlord? I must have either missed it or ignored it.

Yeah action wise they are better, Arrival just felt short. No i meant the vault in kasumi's memory, the same place where you get the SMG schematics. Its a statue.
