What Games Are You Playing?

i was trying to understand that one too - both mass effects are basically third-person shooters, and what could be better than mouse and keyboard for shooters? even the defaults are good.

i thought me2 was too short, or maybe i did it wrong the first time around. i'd just finished assembling my team together, sorted out their problems, and very soon it was game over. i haven't tried any of the dlc yet, may have to check out shadow broker.

isn't it sad that they only sell you half the game to start with?

which leads me nicely onto my next subject: like others, personally i'm going through a 'bored-of-gaming' patch too.

i don't really feel like going through new vegas or me2 again yet. i'm still enjoying bc2 and vietnam, but really need something for those quieter times.

one of my fave games over the last five years is/was medieval 2, so i bought king arthur on the recent steam sale, but just can't get into it. maybe i should start another med 2 campaign...? i've got empire and napoleon, but don't really like the rifle combat - i much prefer swords, spears, bows and arrows etc.

although probably my fave slow pc game of all time is the legendary sid meier's alpha centauri from 1999 - i keep looking at the box thinking i should see if it works on win 7...civ v was a huge disappointment...

come to think of it, my second fave slow pc game was also released in 1999 - warzone 2010. i may have to start playing that again too, as it's been open-sourced and updated in the last few years.

maybe i'm just getting old, but retro-gaming ftw! 1999 - when the pc really was top of the gaming world. any other oldies here remember those games?

Here's something that's strange for me.

I've been a first person shooter gamer most my "gaming" life. Started playing PC games in 98 and my all-time fav is Unreal. Anyway for me it was all about FPS.... then I bought Dragon Age: Awakening on release day because of the commercial hype. However I didn't play it until about 4 months ago because even though I bought it, it really wasn't my type of game.... so I thought.

Well after finally playing it, not only did I thoroughly enjoy it, I went out and bought the expansion. Man I love the story, and I thought the graphics were awesome.

Anyways it seems that the games I've played after it.... mainly Fallout New Vegas, Metro 2033, and Mirror's edge (can't get into the game play) haven't been able to hold my attention like Dragon Age did. And again, this is a genre I never thought I'd get into (Fantasy RPG).

Anyway I need a game with a good story line to keep me awake. Thus far those games have been Bioshock 1, Mass Effect 1 & 2, and Dragon Age.

BTW I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Age 2, and Mass Effect 3. Also looking forward to Dead Space 2, which is also in my top five list of favorite games.

like yourself, i'm new to rpg - i always thought swords and magic wasn't my style, but i too really enjoyed dragon age - it was just so well written and the voice acting was superb - especially alistair and morrigan. it wouldn't have been the same without them, in my opinion.

BTW how much did you get the game for?

I got it for £10. Dunno why I didn't buy the two days it was £3.50, but for 50% off, still not bad.

Bought Wings of Prey in the Steam sale. I'm liking it so far. It's a good combat flight simulator. Horrible to play with a keyboard though lol. Going through to Uni tomorrow after work to pick some stuff up, so will get my 360 controller. I dunno how, but I forgot my mouse and keyboard as well when I moved home for Christmas last week, so I've been using a crappy spare set. I thought I'd manage with this spare set, but I can't bare to play another game on a PS/2 keyboard :sarc:

there a few PC games that don't play easily via the keyboard..

- Batman:Arkham Manor and Mass Effect are a couple..
- anybody know of others..??

I can play things like Arkham Asylum and Mass Effect no problems with a keyboard and prefer using a keyboard for things like RPGs and FPS games. I got my 360 controller for games like FIFA, which are a real pain in the arse to play, and games like Dirt2 are a lot more enjoyable with a control pad.

She did a few voices if I remember correctly. She did a Quarian's voice, I think an Asari and the Rachni when that Asari gives you the message.

Even if ME games did support it, I wouldn't use it. I can't stand FPS/RPG games with control pads. The only RPG I'll play on console is Zelda games. When I played Call of Duty with some friends on 360 I hated every second of it, lol.

How anyone can play a shooter on PC with a controller is beyond me. I had Fallout New Vegas on PS3 and exchanged that for Gran Turismo 5. I also have Fallout 3 on PS3 but you dont have an option to aim down the sights on that one. I will give New Vegas a go on the PC as I do like the story.

When I played Max Payne I couldn't think of playing it without keyboard and mouse, really.

If so, could you suggest me any good volleyball game for PC apart from International Volleyball 2009 (which I already own and also enjoy)?

i'm taking my sweet time and doing all the side missions i can. upgrading, leveling, basking in Jack's warm friendliness, getting hypnotized by Miranda's huuuuge behind, buying toys for captain's quarters, trying to catch anyone in both bathrooms, wondering how it would look if whole squad got on the dancefloor (like in GTAIV) and gone crazy for like a minute and not that stupid short animation, drinking everything at the bar and waking up in bathroom, flirting with Kelly.... etc etc oh yeah and i play only with femshep. much more fun

going through Omega 4 relay is the laaaaaaaast thing on my list xD

and did anyone notice that Tali now has eyes shining through her helmet's shield?! mind-boggling...

heh don't get me started on this... i started with playing Elite on ZX Spectrum, Jungle Strike on Mega Drive and Dune 2 on PC...

some of my classics for from early 3d days (remember 3dfx?) are Sin, Half-Life, Need for Speed III... actually too much to count

i almost got DA:Origins on Steam sale but since i'm too busy with ME2 and DA2 coming in March (which means Steam sale again)... though if it goes on sale again in these last three days... you never know

Mass Effect 2 is the first game in long time that i play so late until i almost pass out... even GTAIV can't compare to this (and i'm huge GTA series fan). my absolute record is 3 days and nights non-stop play of GTAIII. after GTA 1 and 2 it was something revolutionary. no game ever has come even close to this.

Well, I currently am not however have considered a controller and mapping it. Reason being my right pinky finger; nerve damage from knife fight. Also got stabbed in the left index knuckle but that healed well, but the left pinky finger not so well, broken, frost bite, & dropped a fly wheel on it once. So quick shift - ctrl functions are difficult. Also had a trebble hook surgicaly removed from my right hand, that was embarrasing.

I picked up Darksiders.
My first impression was just .. Meh .. its ok I guess.

But after I got a bit further into it, I started having fun with it.

For some reason, it reminds me alot of Soul Reaver (Leagacy of Kain). I used to love that game back on the Original Playstation .. or maybe the Dreamcast .. I can't remember which. I had both at the time and think the game was out for both platforms.

At any count, if anyone ever played or remembers that game, thats what it reminds me of. Probably why Im starting to like it
