What Games Are You Playing?

I am tired as well of DLC, it was ok at first now its just annoying. I miss the day's of expansion packs, and well done sequels.

Aside from the fact that it's double dipping to make $$$, you just know that some of it would have been included for free if the developers were given the extra time.

I think some DLC is a good thing, if done properly.


But, stuff like what EA tried to pull with Dead Space 2 was just wrong I think.


For those who may not know what Im refering to...

At release they said there would be no DLC for PC, but consoles owners could buy it.

It later surfaced that not only was it available for consoles, but PCs had this DLC as well. In fact, they all had it all at release day. It was included and installed with the game. It was just locked.
You could unlock it as "DLC" for a fee.

This type of stuff is annoying, as thats not even DLC IMHO if you must pay to unlock content that was included on the game disc at release.

I think I'm gonna fire up both Portal 1 and 2 again, I just can't get tired of a little brainstorming when games are involved... Wish I could do that in real life xD

I picked up Madness Returns, and didnt even realize this was going to be available at the time.

So hopefully Ill be able to pick it up this weekend.

Installed Far Cry and 64bit patch and content the other day. All installed and runs fine so far. Better than it did for me in xp and with my same older vid card. Far Cry is not on the list here??

Playing at extra high settings- water is ultra high with added world shadows- 8x aa 10af looks great and recording my vids at 30fps no probs- not recording getting 70 to over 100fps. I am a lil amazed really.

The 64bit Far Cry rocks and likes my system.

Love this game 1 of the best of all times and still can stand with newer games in every way.. Far Cry and JustCause2 are the most pretty games I have and play..

I really liked the FEAR games as well, and hoping this one is just as good at the least, and hopefully better.

Immediate thought - Consolitis with tons of achievements flashing on the screen

Honestly I wish I could turn that off as I personally find it annoying. I'm not looking for achievements, I'm looking to complete the game.

It appears you can't shoot enemies while they're standing on grated stairs above you. I guess the floor has an invisible shield that prevents bullets from going through :huh:

Also not really impressed with the graphics - perhaps it's the area I'm in, though I just completed Level 1.

And there is that grainy look that was so prevalent in FEAR 2, though it didn't really bother me like it is here.

Besides that, you can't complain about action - there's plenty of that in the first level.

As for screenshots - unless the game allows for them, I can't get them as I don't use screen capturing programs. I suppose I could do Windowed mode and try to capture some but....

Anyway that's it for now.

I may create my own thread for the game if other people are interested, or plan on getting the game. We'll see how it goes here.

I have a bud with f3ar in the 3 hours or so he has been playing it he says it is a 10 out of 10. That is not a fan boy opinion. I will let him complete it and see what he thinks. I trust his judgment.

He would say the game is crap or what ever if so.. Says he likes you play a level and then have to play it as the other character. Sounds cool to me..

Some may not like it- heck I might not like it. Id rather get reviews from you guys versus gamespot or ign etc.

I never really learned how to post the vids like that. I normally post the links- I am not sure the vid use more site bandwidth set up like you have it now and sites complain and is also why I use say imageshack to post photos. It links back to imagechack and less bandwidth needed on this site or pages and maybe folks have less page loading probs.

I can post say 7 or more screens or my animated gifs are around 2mbs each and can eat some bandwidth. I like the sites that let us post our game screens and animated gifs. I would post more vids to play on the screen like that if no probs. I do not know- I always tried to avoid being warned what ever- they might be fine and no extra bandwidth used??

Far Cry can have its own mind- 1 minute or vid it records everything nice and clean or clear- the next grass is blur. I can not stop it. Man the game is lovely in real time tho.. Well my vids on my system look better than when on youtube- its codec makes it suck.

I followed that link. I think I can post like that now- good instructions. I have pulled part of the code like that to post at gamedemo.com- so is nothing I have not done before. I more do not care to be fussed at- maybe posting vids like that is ok.

i'm not 100% sure, but i don't think there are any bandwidth issues - as far as i'm aware, the youtube vids get streamed directly from the mighty youtube servers.

there are many threads on this forum featuring countless youtube vids, including http://www.sevenforums.com/chillout-room/18461-youtube-dump.html and http://www.sevenforums.com/chillout-room/161667-what-you-listening-5-a.html (currently in its fifth reincarnation).

Need to get a head set- mic head phones. Then I can do talk throughs or what is called real play throughs. with out the mic etc- they are just watching someone play.

Can even get sponsors- might even give ya games or software or hardware to make the game videos. To many of said play throughs the guys cuss to much f this f that what ever sounds so 9 year old. I would not talk a lot or make much noise in my vids- but explain what might be needed.

I am no star the games are. Being disabled and poor and a gamer- ya Id love sponsors. I know it is others at youtube that game have them- be nice to be lucky I guess??? Ha ha.. Get free stuff and just to game with or mostly- sounds cool to me..

I hate gaming with guys with mics- if they are not woman and being sexy I can care less to hear them or how great they think they are or what ever else they have to say.. Guess team work would be one thing- not so in most games and if all do not have head sets what does it matter- hate them folks always on the mic or playing music what ever.. I mute folks they do not know it. I will text sometimes in game or during break. Most sound like nasal weasels- gees off the mic please- ha ha..

Made this the other day.

Stalker Priboi story.

Took me like 10x tries to beat all these guys. I tried from a few locations and other side of the compound also. All the mutants and npcs with guns was tearing me up until I got in the back of this truck.

The Burers and Controllers are the worst- but the Chimera and Pseudodog dogs can jump far and high and up in the truck with me. I was still lucky to beat them all and is still like 10 running around and more after blowouts.. Pseudogiant have the stomp attack- love the suckers and they/any can get ya through walls what ever- so need not get to close to walls etc. or might get dead.

Love stalker and priboi story mod- I am the guest of honor or lunch maybe..>



Kind of wish I made the vids with out the night vision- but see better with it- so..

Still playing this, and a bit further in.

It is fun and interesting, but overall, although lots of action and combat, it is mostly a platformer.

So for those who do not like platformers at all, its not a good choice.
Although Im not a huge platformer fan, I do like a few of them.



So for those who may be interested about Game Performance;

Overall, the game itself seems to be running very well for me.
And although not a graphical masterpiece or something revolutionary in that regard, it is quite pretty. And the enviroments look very good, and are very well done.


In all honesty, I have encountered a couple minor glitches, but only very minor things.

Camerea angles can be a bit funky at times, mostly when fighting 2 or more enemies and dodging around. But, just mildly annoying at certain points, and I havent seen it too much.

The major thing was the framerate lock. The game by default is locked at 30FPS, but by changing that FPS cap to 60, it smoothed everything out for me. This is one of those must do tweaks IMHO,.


Thats all Ive encountered up to this point.

Pray tell, how did you mange to change the FPS?

You need to Edit the .ini file at:

Documents/My Games/Alice Madness Returns/Alice Game/Config

Open the AliceEngine.ini and do a search for Smoothed.

You have 2 options here.
Change-
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=31 to MaxSmoothedFrameRate=60


OR you can also disable framerate smoothing altogther.

Change- bSmoothFrameRate=True to bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE

I found this method worked best on my setup.
In fact, I also disabled Vsync in the ini and then forced it on in the Nvidia Control Panel as well as Turning on Tripple Buffering.

Either way will let the game run at 60FPS though.
