I currently have an HDD in my laptop, but I'm looking to replace it with a good SSD at some point since the disk will inevitably die over time. I have an HP Elitebook 8570p, and an NTFS hard disk. It is identified as an ST320LT020-9YG142; with 300 Gigabytes of storage. I'm willing to compromise storage for the sake of speed since I have many other means of storing data.

If that is 3rd gen intel look for sata ssd. Crucial mx500 is popular but they have stopped making them.
Some sellers still have stock but they arent cheap.

Or samsung 870 evo SAMSUNG 870 EVO Series 2.5" 500GB SATA III V-NAND SSD - Newegg.com

it should be a noticeable improvement, much better than the old mechanical disks

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll order it off NewEgg and clone my files. You're really cool for the fast response, too. This seems to be a very reliable forum site. :-)

Even though it's been months, I only got to replacing the disk yesterday. Big mistake to not do it earlier. My laptop now boots in a matter of seconds when it previously took up to a minute. Firefox took 3 minutes to load up and changing themes could take up to 20 seconds. All of those times have been reduced to where it feels like my desktop computer. I owe it to you. Thanks for recommending the disk and software ;)
