It's listed under msconfig as an autostart program.

Doubtful it's a virus, since it's in a directory called "BIOSTAR" which is the maker of my motherboard.

I don't remember installing it, either.

Probably an auto BIOS update utility for your mobo, that checks for a BIOS update.

You could check in Programs and Features and/or Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Services to see if there is similar installed there.

May have just been automatically added to the startup list.

Easy and laziest solution. Bios updates don't come so often, and are rarely needed if you have no problems. Just untick it.
