What is the best way to extend battery life?

Well, now i am looking at this.
It's a 40gb intel ssd with TRIM support, $140.
I did a rough caculation and the space that i use on my computer, minus my video library and windows.old, is about 12gb.
that's including a bunch of crap to be deleted, so i think it should be fine as a main notebook drive

Just make sure you have enough storage for backups... although an external drive is recommended.

I'm planning on sticking my old 250gb drive into an enclosure and using that as a backup/media drive.

Microsoft actually has helpful hints on how to save battery life right on the computer. It recommends that once you get your new battery you Fully Charge it for 10 hrs (Computer turned off while charging it) and then fully drain it. Repeat this process 3 times. Then you are good to go. It also says that you shouldn't drain your computer past 40%. Why, I don't know but I have been following that. Hopefully it helps.

Okay, I read this tip when I had Vista. I now re-read it and it says to drain your battery before charging. But I also read that NiMH and NiCd need to be fully drained and then fully charged, but Li-ion (found in most, if not all, modern laptops) don't need to be fully drained.
