What is the definition of 'another computer' according to MS?

So if I buy an OEM/builder version of Win 7 vice the retail and install it, it "cannot be transferred to another computer once it is installed".

So now I guess what is Microsoft's the definition of a computer. If I replace the HDD, or video card, and for some reason I have to re-install, I think I'm OK. How about replacing a failed motherboard with one from the same manufacturer, but a newer model because the old was discontinued? How about a different manufacturer? What if the only thing original is the case? Or the keyboard? I've had the same IBM model M 'clicky' keyboard for forever. Does that count?

Usually will be fine except if you replace the mobo.

Phone call to MS to say your mobo died and they will sort it out for you.

Microsoft looks at the motherboard to decide if it's another computer. I have had a motherboard for a couple of weeks when it went bad. I was using Windows 7 OEM. When I installed a new replacement motherboard exactly the same I had to call Microsoft in order to activate. Some how they could tell the difference. The only thing I could see different was the serial number on the board in very small print.
