What is the invisible Boot folder on a non-OS drive?

Earlier I ran Windows on a SSD and used two IDE drives in RAID 1 (hardware). Windows began to blue screen and in my attempts to figure out why, I decided to switch from hardware raid to software raid (both to figure out if the raid was the issue, as well as having read that software raid is prefered over hardware).

So, before one re-installation of Windows I had disconnected one of the raid drives and turned off the raid. Things worked out ok, in the sense that I didn't end up lose any data. The blue screen issue continued though. I bought a new SSD and the computer is working flawless. Problem solved.

Now on to my question. I still only have one IDE drive connected. On it there's an invisible folder, Boot, that contains a bunch of language folders, and a few additional files: BCD, BCD.LOG, BCD.LOG1, BCD.LOG2, BOOTSTAT.DAT, memtest.exe. The dates of these folders hasn't changed since May, which I suppose might've been when I installed Windows for the final time. So, what is this folder? Is it safe to delete? Did it have something to do with the hardware raid setup I used earlier?

The motherboard is an ASUS P8P67 Pro.

How did you perform the original installation with the original SSD?

It sounds like at least one IDE was still connected when you installed to the original SSD, and some of the boot files (BCD = boot configuration data) were installed to the IDE - this is why we always recommend that all devices with the exception of the disk to hold the Windows installation, is disconnected during OS installation.

To test, disconnect the IDE drive, reboot the PC -does it boot OK?
