Hi everyone.

Okay, many times before I've seen users ask the question, "What is your favorite game of all time?" but I'm here to ask, what is the strangest or weirdest computer game you've ever played?

For me it has to be this one I played a long time ago on my Apple //e. No fancy graphics; just a simple text-based interface. It was called "Nightmare #7," or something like that. And the object of the game was to figure out ... the object of the game. Seriously. You were presented with a prompt in which you could enter anything you wanted. Then your score would fluctuate based on what you entered. But you didn't know how what you were typing was affecting your score! To be honest, even to this day, I still don't know what the goal of that game was. I suppose I could have looked at the BASIC source code, but would that be considered cheating?

Anyone else? :)

Whilst I didn't play this game myself (seen my friend play it), nor was it on PC. For me the wierdest game I've seen is Bayonetta. Filled with terrible J-pop music, rediculous sex puns. And over the top sexual animation. It just doesn't sit well with me... I don't get this sort of game. I'm all for hot women in my movies and such, but an animated woman jumping around, moaning and her clothes coming off? I'm out thanks. The image I get in my head is that of the Warcraft guy from South Park playing it.

That said, each to their own. I'm sure plenty of people wouldn't like the games I play with blood, guts, murder, car theft and so on...

Probably would run real smooth on a Core i7 with a pair of SLI GTX 480s. ;)

I hear ya. Yes, I've seen a couple of old games in my day with similar themes ... one was a space invaders game in which the primary objects (such as the spaceship, the aliens, etc.) were substituted with ... well ... things of a more "kinky" nature. :o:shock::D

For me, I would say the later levels of Thief Gold, particularly the "Escape", "Strange Bedfellows" and "The Maw" levels were not only the weirdest but the creepiest levels I've ever played in any game to date.

Commando Libya on C64 ..! That was some disturbing stuff. Besides that, FRAK for the same box was way out there. Stag on Amiga. For PC, nothing comes close to Postal.

The look wasn't the worst of it. The sounds, especially with headphones just creep the hell out of you. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend playing those levels if it's nighttime and you're by yourself unless you're doing it without audio. I would recommend doing it in the daytime with others around the house (or whatever surrounding you're in) if you want to use audio.

Yeah, Gold was the expansion to Thief: The Dark Project. I would say that to me, it's still one of the best games I've ever played and even to date, apart from the sequels, I've never really found as interesting a game experience as that series of games were.

In way, I guess I'm kind of an oddball because I much prefer the single player experience and don't really care for the multiplayer. If a game has good multiplayer but no single player or the single player really sucks, I will usually not play it but if the single player experience defines the game, then I will play it.

I dislike when developers cram a turd of a multiplayer into a game just for the sake of having it. BioShock was a great game, no multi and it didn't suffer. Bio2 whilst not as good was still amazing, was there any need for the crap multiplayer?... I don't think so.

I've noticed that trend for the last few years. Instead of focusing on an aspect of the game and making it rock, they'll make two mediocre parts or one really good and one really crappy.

Speaking of weird games, another weird game was MDK 2. It was certainly something that you just don't expect out of game.

In 1990 I went to visit my brother in San Jose, California and came to learn my first Mac computer (IBM or Clones is all I had used or seen). It had a 9 or 10" screen and used windows like icons (WOW!!!... never seen those before).

Well, he had a game that it was called "Dejavu" or something like that and you needed to find clues to go to the next step. I vaguely remember that you started on a bathroom, blood all over yourself, you look at the mirror and start to ask yourself questions until you are able to get out of the bathroom, etc, etc. So yeah, it was about finding clues to continue the game.

The game was a loaner or came with the Mac but he had no book anymore and I was never able to find what the plot of the game was really about. I also remember that I was never able to finish the game or even find it for PC for that matter... weirdest thing that is still lingering in my head.

I keep forgetting this is 2010 and technology is vast and extremely advanced :D
