What Is VC_RED or What Does It Do.

Professional” 64-bit needing to be reinstalled. I have my own CD for this, and took it to a purportedly reputable Tech Shop with some instructions for what I needed to have done. However, I have no idea as to what was actually reinstalled (when I start-up my PC, I see “Windows 7 Professional” but not “Windows 7 Home Professional” indicated as the OPS), and now I have a Drive that contains “VC_RED — Cabinet File” and “VC_RED — Windows Installer” (both dated 7 November 2007, well before I built my PC in 2013), so I have no clue as to what OPS I actually am using.

May anyone know what “VC_RED” is or does?

VC_Red is short for Visual Studio C++ Redistributable. They are shared libraries used by your program(s).

There is no Windows 7 Home Professional
Windows 7 has 5 types:
Starter (32 bits only)
Home (32 and 64bits)
Home Premium (32 and 64bits)
Professional (32 and 64bits)
Ultimate (32 and 64bits).

To reinstall win 7 without loosing your settings and data you do a Repair Install
You just need to insert your DVD disk under windows and run setup. It will need to reinstall all updates.
