What is your favorite version of Windows?

If you look back to your first computer whatever windows offered seemed far better than not having to use a typewriter, adding postage and seeing if you letter got to it's destination.
Each new version seemed better than to the previous one and we were all happy camper's.

Now years have passed and new versions have arrived where some worked better for other's than the newest on the shelf.
What works for me may not be to your liking and that's what makes us different. We have that right to like and buy what WE want.

To make a long story short I like Windows 7 for a variety of reasons which I won't go into because how I use my computer is totally different than how you use yours.
That's my story and I am sticking to it....
Need to spend some quality time with my new toy-----

Probably you were a little young to care in those days. NT 4 was an OS that did what you told it not what it thought you wanted. No Plug and Play (or Pray) except as an afterthought on the CD. When it broke it was well and truely broken and you had to wipe and reinstall.

The first OS i ever really set eyes on was 95 but didn't use a computer properly until 2000 however the very first computer i owned was XP.

I have to be honest: XP. XP ran any grungy piece of software I threw at it without a hiccup, file transfers from optical disc to desktop were quick like a bunny, and I never, ever had one single BSOD in 8 years of daily use.

Since I don't do a lot of computerfying, the look is important to me. Windows 7 themes so much better than XP. Default Windows 8 looks so flat and boring and pastel. But I see Mr. Grim and the VC crew making 8 look awesome, so that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

I'm satisfied with 7, and it does everything I need, so I will stick to it. Nine may tempt me, but we'll see.

Well, coming from XP year 2001 (back in year 2000 was windows 98) and Windows 7 in 2009, with my little experience i can tell windows 7 is the best. Shame i do not have tested Windows 8 or windosw 8.1.1 but reviews and articles on Microsoft OS windows 9 are becoming more obvious, which i would like for a near future if they do keep the straight line.

Windows 7 surely!

for some reason everytime I try to use a computer running XP it seems to go real slow and that's one reason I don't like it, I really do like 7 though because it is fast and fluid and overall one of the best Microsoft has ever made

Hmm let's see.

1. Windows XP, because it was the biggest step to modernization plus it's extremely stable.

2. Windows 95, because it was the first OS of Microsoft to have a USB support

3. Windows 98 SE, because the USB support was improved and there is much improvements

4. Windows 7, because it's like Windows XP's son.

My favorite Windows OS was W2k, for bringing the NT world to the common user.
7 of course remains a staple.

I have two favorites.

OS for daily use: Windows 8.1.1. Fast and reliable, flexible, nice to look, easy to use.

Server OS for private home networking: I just love how well Windows Home Server 2011 works and how easy it is to set up. Sadly, Microsoft decided to kill the Home Server product line (Windows Home Server Discontinued, Microsoft Announces Four New Editions For Windows Server 2012 | Redmond Pie).

I actually never had a computer running ME, but I have the CD. And yes I have used it in a VM, and it truly is Windows Mistake Edition.
